PEEK-OPTIMA Material Properties

Advanced Properties for Advanced Devices

PEEK-OPTIMA is a versatile polymeric biomaterial with strength and durability characteristics that outperform other implantable polymers. A superior combination of high strength, stiffness and toughness, together with its proven biocompatibility, make PEEK-OPTIMA ideally suited for demanding in-vivo medical device applications. Inherently radiolucent, PEEK-OPTIMA does not generate image artifacts that interfere with the assessment of the healing site via X-ray, CT or MRI imaging modalities.

The Versatile Implantable Polymer

The properties of PEEK-OPTIMA polymer can be tailored — for example to increase strength or stiffness; control image contrast; improve wear properties — through compounding, without sacrificing its excellent mechanical properties and biocompatibility.
